She is typically portrayed with multiple arms, each holding a weapon or symbolizing a specific aspect of Her power. Maa Kaali is often shown standing on the corpse of her husband, Lord Shiva, who represents the passive, unchanging aspect of the Universe.
Despite her fearsome appearance, Maa Kaali is also known for Her fierce devotion to Her devotees. She is believed to be the ultimate protector, fiercely guarding Her devotees against harm and danger. Worship of Maa Kaali is said to help devotees overcome obstacles and challenges in their lives, as well as conquer negative qualities such as ego, greed, and anger.
