In Sanatana Dharma, Vishnu is considered one of the principal Deities and is known as the preserver of the universe. He is often depicted with four arms, holding a conch shell, a discus, a mace, and a lotus flower. He is also depicted reclining on the serpent named Ananta, with his consort – Lakshmi, at his feet.
According to Hindu mythology, Vishnu is responsible for maintaining the balance and order of the universe, and He appears on earth whenever there is a threat to that balance. He is said to have appeared in ten different incarnations, known as the Dashavatara, to protect the world from evil forces.
Vishnu is often worshiped in temples, and His devotees believe that by praying to Him and following his teachings, they can attain a state of liberation from the cycle of birth and death. Many of the stories and teachings associated with Vishnu are found in ancient Hindu scriptures, such as the Puranas and the Bhagavad Gita.
